To Over-Development!

We are Markham Neighbourhood Voice Foundation, a non-profit organization advocating for responsible development that aligns with Markham’s urban planning principles while addressing the needs of current and future residents.

We are working together to oppose a proposed rezoning plan that could drastically change our community. The plan involves building high-rise rental apartments near Aaniin Community Centre, disrupting the low-rise, family-friendly character of our neighborhood and creating numerous challenges. We need public awareness and require your voice, presence, and help!

The funds raised will be used to:

  • Subsidize expenses incurred by volunteers in activities, such as printing, materials, and transportation.
  • Prepare legal litigation fees, including lawyer consultation fees, to ensure we have professional legal support to defend our rights.

The funds raised will be transparent, with all expenses supervised by three volunteers to ensure every penny is used for legitimate purposes.

According to Remington’s latest plan, the apartment rent is expected to range between $2600 and $2800 per month (for a one-bedroom unit), with parking spaces available for separate rental. The community will feature a daycare center, a park, and ample parking spaces. At the same time, the building’s height is restricted, making it one of the lowest-rise residential projects in Markham’s latest development plan.
